Steel Sculpture - Exhibition Fragments

The Steel Sculptures represented by these images was part of an exhibition titled Fragments. The work was completed while I was on a year long sabbatical.

This series of fabricated steel sculptures was developed from a series of drawings that had their beginnings as studies from small plastic and steel fragments. These fragments were found at various locations, taken back to the studio and drawn in an enlarged format. In the process of drawing, some parts were re-interpreted. Cardboard enlargements were made from drawings, composed into sculpture, and then cut from steel. All of the these pieces are made from plate steel and treated with a hot linseed oil patina. The works primary focus is on an aesthetic composition of the drawn elements into a sculptural format.
